Mindy took a lot of candid shots during the week, especially Saturday.  Did she get a shot of you? Doing something fun? Silly? Embarrassing?

A night at the fair

Here are some of what it happening at The Hookstown Fair!

Lions and Tigers and Bears? Well, I’ve not seen the lions or bears, but I did see Tigers!

and someone wanting to BE a tiger!

I do not like snakes, but not everyone feels the way I do. Queen Shannon is a snake lover, but I’m not so sure about Princess Meagan.

This girl made me feel like a wimp – she’s not afraid and the snake is tons bigger than her!

Diving Fool Don Otto is pretty cool – man, I’m glad I don’t have his job.

Were you at the Fair? LOTS of people turned out last night and stayed late. I had a Royal Audience and the rides and food stands were hopping as late as 11pm! Here’s a few folks enjoying themselves.

and some ‘reserved’ seating for the Demo Derby

And speaking of the Derby

For those too young to drive there was the goat milking contest

and lots of rides in Kiddieland (and a petting zoo if you’re prefer to keep your hands on the topside of the animals)

The Queen came by and I’ll post some shots of our adventures (other than meeting the snake) later on. She is enjoying her reign over the fair.

You can win prizes at the Fair too. I saw this guy carrying what has to be about the biggest suffed animal I’ve ever seen.

Happiness is … A giant stuffed animal!

Come to the fair and make some memories for yourself!

Hookstown Fair – Are you Bloomin’ Excited!

The Fair starts tomorrow! I can hardly wait! To me the Fair is almost like a vacation – a time away from daily life.

What’s new for us this year, at the Fair? Well, Mindy will be on hand most every day so come on by the booth and meet her. Feel free to ask for some makeup tips too! She did most of the booth decoration – it’s all themed to do with the Fair theme too! We’ve got over 250 photos on our wall – Who do you know on the Wall of Fame? Or perhaps YOU are on our wall of fame?  Stop by and find out!

What’s up with you? We want to know – so when you come by our booth you can fill out a short survey and we’ve got a Thank You for your efforts. And you can enter our drawing for movie tickets! Hey, since we’re running a commercial at Cinemark in Monaca we want to make sure somebody sees it, even if we have to give you tickets to do so!
And we’ve got a few other surprises at our booth too, so be sure to come by and check it out!  Our reps will be on had Friday and Saturday and if you’re still needing your Senior Photos you should stop by and talk to them – it might even save you a few bucks!

Princess Stephanie Rules!

The Hookstown Fair is a few months off according to my calendar but for those involved in putting it together it’s a year round job. Stephanie was last year’s Fair Princess and came by for the royal treatment, I mean, a photo for the Fair Board office and 2009 promotional uses. It was good to see he and Lisa again. Lisa (Steph’s mom) worked way hard at least year’s fair.

So here’s the one she chose for the Fair Office and a couple from the Fair last year.

And this is Steph’s favorite picture from the Fair last August

A few thank you’s

Now that I’ve recovered from the Hookstown Fair I’d like to thank a few folks that made the week special for me. Jeremy Olszewski is always a lot of fun as this picture will attest. No, he’s not the Fair Queen but he has won the Male Beauty Pageant two years running. He asked me if I’d join the Pageant next year and then maybe we could go and trash our dresses afterwards. I’m up for it!

I was welcomed back with a warm greeting from Mikala Doran, the 2007 Fair Princess. Thanks Mikala!

And of course the Queen herself, Bethany Podnar!

I also made some new friends. Stephanie Moore is the 2008 Hookstown Fair Princess and a wonderful young lady whose parents should be very proud of her. I enjoyed meeting her and spending some time with her and her mother, Lisa.

The Duck Pond in Kiddie Land was an adventure unto itself that I’ll get into at another time. Actually I think I was about the only person that didn’t get into the pond. I think we can blame Bethany for the all the trouble we caused there.

And lets not forget one of the busiest people of the week, Katie Brown the new Fair Queen for 2008. In addition to her royal duties, she was showing steers, sheep and hogs AND moving into Grove City College! She generously fit in some time on Saturday for some pictures. I think Stephanie kind of talked her into it, but I don’t think it was too hard to do.

Yes, it’s THE red dress from the earlier TTD sesison with Devan. I did say Steph played too, right?

They kept saying farm girls don’t mind dirt. I guess they don’t!

But pretty girls like being clean and dressed up too!

So THANK YOU to all those that helped make my week one I’ll remember for a very long time! Check back here in a week or so – I’m working an a slideshow/video of Saturdayday’s Trash The Dresses session. All I can say is It involves LOTS of ducks and it was good fun, but not good clean fun.

another day at the fair

It was just another day of fun at the Fair. For some folks anyway.

But for Devan, well, it was time to have some fun of a different kind.

Good thing no one was watching!

every little girl’s dream is to be a princess

My daughter, Evie, is 4 1/2 and she wants to be a Princess. She loves all the Disney princesses be that in a movie or doll. If you ask her she may even tell you she is a Princess. Every little girl wants to be a Princess and I’ve met a couple of wonderful young ladies that have made that dream come true.

Last year was the first year Hookstown Fair had a Fair Princess and Mikala Dorman was that girl. On the last day of reign we went out and did some photos – less cheesy than last year’s pics.

The 2008 Fair Princess is Stephanie Moore, a wonderful young lady about to start HS. I need to get out more – she’s been to Japan and Bethany (last year’s queen) has been to Nepal. Me? I just go Hookstown!

And while being a Princess has it’s rewards, it comes with duties.

Yeah, every little’s girls dream is to be a Princess!

Bethany at the Fair

I’m not into boring, same old same old kinda stuff. I cover the Hookstown Fair for their scrapbook and since I’m there all week with unlimited access to everything, I thought it would be pretty cool to do some senior pictures during the Fair. Bethany Podnar, Class of ‘09 at South Side was last year’s Hookstown Fair Queen and she loved the idea. I think some of her friends thought it was fine for her – I mean, being the Queen and all the Fair meant a lot to Bethany, but they seemed a bit skeptical that her pictures wouldn’t be awesome.

Well, Bethany calls me her ‘personal papparazzi’ and she knew what I could do. Let me just say that we spent a few hours yesterday taking some photos (like 400 of them) and Bethany is an amazing young lady and I really hope my kids grow up to be like her! Heck, I hope one day I can be like her!

Here are a few pics from yesterday. I have to get back to Hookstown and keep covering the Fair so I don’t have much time to show any more. If you want to some of the Fair pictures check them out at View And Choose.com

Can you guess where this was taken?

Now this might a bit edgy, but like I said, I’m not into boring and will take a few risks to make some art. I like it even if no-one else does!
